My actor doesn't attend a school at Gold Rush Elementary, can they sign up?

Unfortunately, this specific program is solely for students who attend GRE.

Do you have auditions for your musicals?

Yes, we hold auditions together as a cast and require each actor to audition in order to get a part. While we choose our cast based on the audition, everyone who signs up for our program will be given a part. We choose to have everyone attend the entire audition time slot and audition in front of each other as a learning opportunity!

My actor doesn't want to audition, but still wants to participate. Is this is possible?

Yes! We understand that some of our actors are not used to public performance and want them to be comfortable. Actors who do not wish to audition will be given an ensemble role, but are still required to attend the audition. 

​

What does my actor prepare for their audition?

Please have your actor prepare about 36 measures or 1 minute of a musical theater song. Pick a song that will show off both their singing and acting skills. Everything we see in your audition is what we base our casting off of, so give it your all!

Can I watch my child's audition?

Unfortunately we do not allow parents inside the auditions. This makes our actors even more nervous and there is not enough space to accommodate that many people in the room.

We have a few conflicts with the dates, can my actor still participate?

Yes, as long as you let us know when you sign up what your conflicts are we can plan our rehearsal schedule accordingly. The only exception to this is our tech/dress rehearsals. Everyone is required to attend these rehearsals because they are the most important leading up to our performances.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

​

• Once AUDITIONS/FIRST DAY have occurred for any program GTT will NOT offer any refunds.

• For cancellations that occur more than 30 days before the start of the program, GTT will offer a full refund of tuition less a $15 cancellation processing fee, per program, per child. However, once Auditions/first day have occurred for any program, GTT will NOT offer any refunds.  

• For cancellations that occur between 15 and 30 days before the start of any program,  GTT will offer a 50% refund of tuition less a $15 cancellation processing fee, per session, per child. However, once Auditions/first day have occurred for any program, GTT will NOT offer any refunds.

• GTT will NOT offer any refunds for cancellations occurring within 14 days of the beginning of the musical production program. Consideration for family emergencies will be made by the GTT Owners on a case by case basis.

• GTT will NOT offer any refunds for expulsion or voluntary withdrawal during sessions. Consideration for withdrawals due to illness will be made by the GTT Owners on a case by case basis.

If GTT is forced to cancel a program before the program starts or during the program, GTT reserves the right to choose what is in the best interest of all parties involved.

AUDITIONS​​

WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO PREPARE?

30 seconds to 1 minute of a song that showcase their singing AND acting abilities the best. 

Please have your child sing with ACCOMPANIMENT tracks only. This means there are no vocals singing with them. We need to know if they can hold pitch and rhythm all on their own and it is also hard to hear their voice when there is another person singing with them. If you have any trouble finding an accompaniment track or need suggestions, please let us known we can help!

HOW DO I CHOOSE A SONG?

Your song is the moment to show us all you got. We want to see you show off all your skills that includes everything listed below. If you have a character from the show in mind, pick a song that represents that character well, you may even pick a song from the musical you are auditioning if you would like! But again this is the moment we get to see all you can do, so let us see your best! Musical theater songs are encouraged.

WHAT SHOULD MY ACTOR EXPECT DURING AUDITIONS?

Everyone enrolled in our program is required to attend auditions in its entirety. First, we will start by introducing the teachers and guidelines for auditioning and how to be a supportive and positive audience member. Everyone will audition in front of one another. We believe this is a great learning opportunity to grow as performers. Yes, it can be unnerving to get up in front of our peers, but we are all a team and rooting for one another to succeed. Learning from observation is a great tool in the world of theater, especially among our youth! 

After everyone performs their songs, the teachers will chat and ask some actors to read or sing from the script. Again, this will be done in front of everyone. Not everyone will be asked to read or called to read for the character they want.

HOW DO WE PICK WHO GETS TO READ AND FOR WHAT CHARACTER?

We base it all on what you did with that initial song audition! So again, pick a song that showcases you the best! A song that will hit on all the aspects we look for when watching your audition. We cannot stress that confidence plays a huge factor in how your audition will go. Practice in front of friends and family before to help ease those nerves.
